The Port of Long Beach is proud to partner with Long Beach Unified School District and the Center for International Trade and Transportation at CSULB to provide the POLB Academy Externship Program. The five day training program brings teachers out of the classroom and into the Port. The course consists of discussions with industry experts, site visits and collaborative group assignments. At the end of the course, participants will  create a lesson plan to apply in the classroom.

Topics include the history and globalization of world trade, the supply chain, logistics, different types of ports, environmental impacts of port operations, jobs, industry trends and more.

This year, the Port hosted teachers and faculty from Cabrillo High School in preparation for the soft launch of the Port of Long Beach Academy of Global Logistics at Cabrillo High School in September. Teachers had a chance to learn about logistics and global trade while formulating new ways to incorporate logistics into their curriculum for the upcoming school year.
